Parents’ Day is celebrated this year on July 24th (it is celebrated on the fourth Sunday in July). This relatively new holiday, began in 1994, allows people to honor both parents together. To commemorate the holiday, here are five exceptional movies about parenting:

Parenthood (1989) – Steve Martin stars in this ensemble comedy about the Midwestern Buckman family. Each of the adult Buckman siblings are parents who struggle with the challenges of raising a family, dealing with children who have different and perplexing problems. Meanwhile each Buckman also tries to relate to their aging father, as well. Along the way, the Buckmans try to adapt the best they can to each crazy new situation that emerges.
