Valentine’s Day can be a great chance to show the people in our lives that we care about them. Whether it’s your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife, taking a night out of the normal schedule and doing something special is a nice way to celebrate your relationship. However, it can be difficult to know what kind of date to plan, especially if you have been with someone for enough time that you have tried many different types of dates. Here are some ideas for a change up on an ordinary date – but ones that still doesn’t require too much expense or advance planning.

Grandparents Deserve Special Recognition
In addition to parents, many of us owe a special debt of gratitude to our grandparents. Grandparents play a special role in our upbringing. For some, they are primary caretakers who care for children because the parents are not present or working full-time. While for many others, grandparents play an important supporting role in our lives: taking children shopping or visiting on holidays and special trips. However, many grandparents and senior citizens become lost in the shuffle when it comes to special appreciation gestures like Mother’s and Father’s Day.
Our customers give us some of the best ideas for our products. This came from one of them who bought a blank liquor decanter tag and had us do some special engraving. Thank you Emily. Here is a copy of her recent comments from our testimonial system. My office ordered a custom-engraved decanter label for my boss as part of a retirement gift. Given that he had been with our organization for almost 50 years, and as a Federal agency we could only rely on personal donations to cover our costs, we needed a decanter label that would be beautiful, elegant, and not too expensive. Silver Mine delivered a stunning personalized product on a very short deadline, and provided excellent customer service over the phone to assuage our worries that the gift might not arrive on time. Thanks for helping make our farewell such a success, Silver Mine!
Would it surprise you to know that Father’s Day was not an official holiday until 1972? That may seem much more recent than many people would expect, but the law that proclaimed Father’s Day an official holiday in the United States was only signed by Richard Nixon in that year. For many years, the date had been granted unofficial holiday status. Going to back to 1916, President Woodrow Wilson was in favor of passing the holiday, but it took another almost sixty years because there wasn’t widespread approval.
As Mother’s Day fast approaches, you may be wondering how you can best show your mother that you appreciate and love her. There are so many different ways to demonstrate your feelings, but one of the best is probably also the most simple – tell her. Many people are uncomfortable expressing their deep feelings, but one of the best ways to make your mother feel loved is to tell her how much she means to you. We all like to be told that people care for us, and these words will make her truly feel this.
Other than Christmas and birthdays, one of the most popular gift giving days is Valentine’s Day. However, unlike those other two occasions, gifts on Valentine’s Day tend to be romantic. So while electronics, household items, or clothes are prominent gifts at Christmas, they are less common for Valentine’s Day. Some of the most popular gifts for Valentine’s are flowers, jewelry, chocolates or candies, perfume or cologne, and personalized items.
In the United States, Valentine’s Day is usually celebrated with cards, gifts, candies, flowers and jewelry. It is a very busy time for restaurants as couples frequently go out to celebrate. These customs are shared by many other countries around the world where men and women exchange presents as signs of their affection. However, there are some celebrations of Valentine’s Day in other parts of the world that are quite unique.
For centuries, people have celebrated Valentine’s Day on February 14th as a holiday of romance and love. However, who exactly was St. Valentine? Why is he associated with love? There is little definitive historical fact about this connection, but there are a number of very intriguing legends regarding Saint Valentine.
There were actually three men named Valentine who have become Catholic saints, all martyred in February. First was Valentine of Rome, then Valentine of Terni, and another Valentine who was killed in Africa. Most branches of Catholicism have not celebrated the feast day of St. Valentine since the 1960s because so little is known about the men. However, by that time, it had already become very popular in secular culture.
During the holidays like Christmas and Hanukkah, selecting gifts can often seem like an overwhelming task. We need to find gifts for significant others, family, friends and often co-workers. There is pressure to select the “perfect” gift, which is a rather difficult task year after year. Keeping track of people’s interests and things they already own can make for a great deal of pressure in a holiday season with an already full calendar.
We celebrate Christmas on December 25th around the world. It is the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, but it also serves as a social holiday where we can give gifts and spend time with our loved ones. However, if we look into the origins of Christmas, many of the traditions we closely associate with the holiday actually predate the birth of Christ.
